Bharat Parivar CC 125-8 in 25 overs
|Match: Old Doms won by 8wks|
Well after a depressing few weeks of the Doms not being able to field 11 players or anything near to 11 it was a relief to be at the ground with 11 players plus a scorer and a 12th man. On a clear warm sunny evening its amazing that those in the Doms squad couldn't just make a little more time to get out and play over the past few weeks. Oh well sign of the times I suppose, perhaps things will get a tad better for the rest of the season...
It was the first visit to Bromsgrove for the Bharat Parivar CC team, a nice friendly bunch of lads who obviously enjoy a game of cricket. Somehow Last was again the only one to step forward to captain the side, he tossed and the visiting skipper called heads, which was correct and chose to bat first. So Banners 'lucky' coin was discarded after only one toss !
McNeice started hurtling down the slope and immediately was causing Preet to edge the first ball trough to Davidge and then through Stato ! Somehow the visitors got 6 off the first over! Banners bowling up hill could have had a couple of wickets before he got Preet to sky a ball to the safe hands of Martin. 8-1 off 2 overs.
McNeice was finally rewarded in his second over when Ranjou was cleaned up by a fast straight ball. 14-2. But as much as Banners and McNeice tried their 8 overs cost 42 for surprisingly only 2 wickets. If luck and the Doms ability to catch a ball came off potentially it could have been 42-8.
Kumar and Hunt took the middle stint where the visitors were looking to set a defendable total, but some slick bowling by Kumar who took 2 wickets and Hunt bowling to contain. The set of 8 overs restricted the visitors to 98-4. Kumar taking 26-2.
So Last called on Kman and Stato to bowl the death overs. What a great job they did, Kman picking up 2 wickets for 13 and Stato only leaking 14 runs.
A great first half for the Doms, some very good bowling and fielding which was only let down by 5 dropped catches. There was one piece of fielding brilliance, McNeice fielding at deep long off chased a ball down and somehow in one movement picked up and threw the ball towards the wickets, the ball sailed over Last and crashed into the stumps running out a bewildered Prased. Bharat Parivar CC innings ended on 125-8
So a quick turnaround saw Martin and Dolly stride out. A cautious start by the openers with the first 4 overs gleaning 31 runs. Sadly Martin who was looking dangerous with some classic cuts and dabs mistimed a drive and was well caught for 18. 38-1 in the 5th.
Big hitting McNeice lasted only 8 balls as he failed to spot a ball that kept low and was walking back for 8 runs. 51-2 in 7th.
Banners joined Dolly and the runs flowed, a chanceless partnership of 77 in 54 ball saw the Doms home by 8 wickets and 4.1 overs to spare. Dolly scored a busy 44no and Banners an elegant 35no in 31 balls.
The teams played competitively in good spirit producing a good evenings entertainment. We look forward to meeting up with the Bharat boys later in the season.
So with all that's gone on over the past few weeks the Doms hopefully have now got back to playing cricket again, lets hope this is the turning point of the season.
Player of the Match, Dolly for his 41 not out.
Drops: 5. Davidge -1, Kman and Kuma 2 each
