Match: Old Doms lost by 6 runs

The second 20/20 slog, tonight the Doms were playing a new team, in fact this was the first time they had played together as a team.

Given the debacle that the game turned out to be for the Doms the report might as well cut to the chase for the reader and get straight to over 16

116 to win in a full 20 overs. Over 17: - - - - - - (100-6) Over 18:2 1 - - 1 - (104-6) Over 19: - - 2 - - - (106-6) Final over : - - 2 1 - wd -. 110-6, a 6 run defeat.

4 overs to get 16 runs the Doms got 10 runs and what is even more damming the Doms score after 13 overs was 81-5. 35 off 7 full overs. The visitors were a nice bunch of lads but the Doms wont face a much weaker bowling attack, ok the wicket was damp and slow but not getting 16 off 24 balls was head shaking time. Was there a plan between the batsmen? were targets set for the last 4 overs? Appears not. Lessons to be learnt.

The evening had started well, the Doms nearly had 11 players, but those there were good enough to beat the new boys of Cross City.

Last and Dan Brookes opened and at 5 overs Last was off with the score on 0-45. The batsmen were hitting the ball hard and chasing down quick singles. Martin came on and got walloped from 20 off his only over. Hodgy came on and the run rate slumped as his 4 overs cost only 10 runs and he picked up an opening batsman as Chicken juggled a slip chance.

Hazo came on and found the turn to slow giving the batsmen a chance to score runs but his spell ended on 1-25. There were a couple of good run outs and Last picking up another stumping the sixth off his bowling this season. The visitors innings ended on 115-5, a very getable score. A big plus again was the fielding and in particular Dolly who was top class throughout the 20 overs.

The Doms got off to a blistering start with Dolly cracking some good shots. The first wicket went down in 5th over with the score on 1-42. Hodgy came and went, played some dreadful shots. But in  the13th over at 81-5  the Doms were cruising...

The rest is history...

Man of the Match - Dolly, great all round performance - solid work.

Dropped catches: Brookes M -2 Adams -1 Running total 16
