Hey the Doms field 11 players, new boy Josh Searle turns out a good performance and even Piper comes out of the woodwork for yet another Doms appearance. Will we see him again this season?
Well the sun was out, lovely muggy evening for playing cricket. Wait a minute is that Pedro Hunt turning out on a Thursday? Summer school break must be looming or he's celebrating Mr Goves departure!
Tonight's visitors were Old Moseley Arms who won the toss and decided to bat first on a good looking track full of runs. 180 plus looked a WASP target.
Well Pedro opened the bowling uphill and it was a concern that he might not finish his first over before nightfall. In the end it was a 12 ball over and to cap it all he got a wicket as Josh Searle took the first of his two catches. Perry was coming downhill, yes that right downhill, the poor buggers had a long hard final term before the six weeks off and bowling uphill would have been asking to much.
The pair bowled 6 overs between them and the visitors flying start had been kept in check with the score on 2-34. Josh Searle took over uphill and the 'returning for one night only' Stevie Hazeldon down. The stranglehold continued with Searle bowling a miserly 2-10 off his four overs and Stevie H 2-22. The visitors were struggling at 6-66 off 14. A big score from this platform was never on although Martin's 35 was a good attempt he never got the support against the bowling of Hodgy and Pedders. The visitors limped to 105-8 off their 20 over about 80 runs short.
The Doms bowled and fielded well although Perry dived over a ball and Pedro turned a one into a four but the most disappointing thing to witness was Hodgy pulling out of a simple catch, he ducked so low his nose touched the grass. Sad to see.
A quick turnaround and the bets were on for victory within 12 overs. Pedders and Steve Martin opened with the latter going for his big shots early. Sadly in the 3rd over with the score on 23 Martin was caught out and the Mose boys sensed victory.
Hodgy trying to make up for his fielding howler looked like a man who had never been introduced to his bat. 8 dot balls later he gets his first streaky runs. Whilst at the other end Pedders was crashing the ball about with ease. At the 9 over mark the Doms were 1-68 still 37 runs short of victory.
Well Pedders passed his 50 and suddenly Hodgy found some form and the 37 runs that were needed took just 13 balls with Hodgy hitting the winning 6. The Doms were home by 9 wickets with Pedders unbeaten on 58 and Hodgy on 30 off 22 faced.
A great win played with a good bunch of lads. It was then off to the bar for a celebratory drink or two.
Player of the Match - Tough call but 2 good catches and 2-10 off 4 overs the award goes to Josh Searle.
Dropped Catches: HODGY-1 Searle C -1 Hazelwood-1 - running total 36
