|Match: Old Doms won by 8wks|
By heavens is was a cold one. After Sunday's sun and warmth we had Thursdays sun, rain and coldness. The Doms are on a bit of a run and looking to make it four wins in a row. The Johnson boys were back and the teams average age had plummeted !
Mid week Skipper Perry wins the toss and the visitors were asked to bat on a good bouncy wicket with a green top. Last and Ben Johnson would take the new ball. Last's first three balls went for 4 4 4 with the help of Perry fielding at long on. with the next ball going for a single Last got the breakthrough beating the opener with flight and bounce and Chickin mad a class stumping. Visitors 1-13 off one.
Ben Johnson, down the hill was into his stride straight away, good lines and in his second over bowled Matt Stiley and the Wanderers were 2-29 off 4. Lasts fourth over claimed two more wickets both simple catches for Martin and Hodges. Visitors 4-40 off 8 overs.
Sam Johnson bowling a good line and plenty of flight caused the batsmen problems and got his reward in his second over, another good stumping. 5-43. Hodgy bowling down the hill kept the run rate in check. The visitors could not get the ball away and Hodgy at last got a wicket, the number 8 batsman being bowled. It just needed Pedders and Perry to mop up the tail enders and the visitors innings ended on 85 with 2 overs left unused.
A shower of rain delayed the Doms innings but as soon as the rain ended the sun shone, still bloody cold though and the Doms openers Martin and Dolly blasted off the innings, Martin hitting the ball hard looking for runs came unstuck with the score on 12 when he was bowled for 9 runs. This brought in Brookes and the partnership flourished. Brookes play well and pinch hitter Dolly getting into his stride as the runs flowed and flowed.
Neither looked like getting out as the Doms raced away with the game but with only4 more needed to win Dolly tried a lazy cut and was caught behind for 44. Sloppy cricket. Doms 2-82 it just needed Pedders to amble in a clip his third ball for a six to end the game. Brooks undefeated on 19. The Doms were home and dry by 8 wickets and overs to spare.
Man of the Match: Dolly, despite an awful shot his 44 runs win him the MoM award
