AMS CC 65a/o in 19.4 overs
|Match: Old Doms won by 8wks|
Another 20/20 slogathon and another win for the Doms. The Doms were playing anew team AMS CC from Evesham way. Nice friendly bunch of lads.. The Doms fielding the three youngsters who who play a key role in the Doms big win. Also a new appearance in the club colours, Steve Hasleden, a free transfer from Bromsgrove.
Chickin skippering lost the toss and the visitors decided to bat on a hard flat track and fast outfield. Ben John opened downhill and the old timer Last bowling up the hill. Four runs off each of the first two overs but it looked like the visitors would struggle against the line and length being bowled. After fours overs Ben J and Last were taken off with the score on 0-12. Dan Brookes and Hasleden were on and in the sixth over Hasleden got his first wicket with his second ball. A good catch behind by Chickin. Brookes bowled tight and was rested after 2 overs with Ladha replacing. Kman coming off his shortened 24 pace run up. Surprisingly the next wicket didn't go down until the 10th over when Dolly took a very good catch deep on the boundary after Sam Johnson had tied the batsmen up. 2-40 off ten overs.
So halfway the AMS team needed to get a move on if they were to set a target to defend. But it all went tits up for the batting side as the lost their remaining wickets for the addition of only 25 runs. Sam Johnson picking up two more wickets, and Dan Brookes picking up 2. The AMS score of 65 was undefendable on this track. The trio of youngsters, Sam, Ben and Dan (with a combined age of 36years) ended up with a combined bowling stat of 12-3-30-5.
Generally the fielding was keen but the performance was marred by 4 dropped catches.
So 66 to in in 20.
Pinch hitter Martin into his stride very quickly and finding the boundary with some ease whilst Dolly score 5 runs off 18 faced. Martin the first to go caught behind for 22 off 11 ball faced. We then got in a turgid spell of batting. The Hickin boys decided make the bowling look good with plenty of dot ball before they started to hit some runs. It was surprising that another wicket fell, this time Chickin, another shite shot and tapped the ball back to the bowler. Doms 2-59 off 9.
Its was left to Dan Brookes to crack the winning runs and the Doms were home by 8wks in 10.2 overs.
